UTAU Lyrics Wiki
This page is still a work in progress.

When making a new song page, please select a preloaded version from the "Preload template" selection menu when editing a page.

  • Please do not use the Visual Editor. At this point in time, it does unpleasant things to wikicode and the editing experience. Please use the source editor or the source edit mode.
    • I also recommend choosing "Disable Category module".
    • There are three possible ways to go to source mode:
      • When you start editing a page/creating a new page, there should be a part at the top of the editor which says "Edit page", under which "Visual Editor" is written with a downwards arrow next to it. Click this arrow and select the source editor
      • When you start making a new page, click on the cancel button at the bottom right of the screen. This will lead you to a page which says "There is currently no text in this page. You can search for this page title in other pages, search the related logs, or create this page.". Click on the arrow next to the create button and click "edit source".
      • Go to My Preferences in fandom --> Editing --> Preferred Editor --> Source editor. Note that this will mean you'll edit in source mode on all fandom sites.
  • Please note that machine-translated romaji, romaja, and pinyin frequently contains mistakes. While using it as an initial output is fine, please proofread it to correct the mistakes!

Page naming[]

  • Page names cannot begin with lowercase letters for technical reasons; use lowercase to force the display of an initial lowercase letter. See "hp" for an example.
lowercase

  • The wiki software also must be explicitly told to display underscores (_) in titles due to technical reasons. DISPLAYTITLE must be used to change the way the page name is displayed. See "Plastical_01" for an example.

  • A more extreme example of overcoming technical limitations can be found at "." (page name Sm21783669).

Song box[]

song box presents basic data about a song.

Song title[]

  • The original song title (as used in the title of an upload or in the PV of a song) is bold and enclosed in a pair of quotation marks ("Song title") and is always the first title listed.
    • Other titles are not.
  • For non-English songs, English translations are preferred. They are not required because a Google Translation translation can do more harm than good. English translations should be the last title listed.
  • For Japanese songs, adding romaji is very much preferred.

  • For Chinese songs, both Traditional and Simplified Chinese may be used for the title. The form used in the PV is treated as the original title. If it does not appear in the PV, then the video title (upload title) is used. If the title is the same in Traditional and in Simplified, do not worry about this. If the title differs in Traditional and Simplified, providing the other form is obligatory because Wikia's search function is trash.

  • An official title translation (as in one given by the producer on YouTube, Niconico, or within the PV) is prefixed with "Official".

  • Multiple translations are separated with  / .

Upload date[]

  • Month, DD, YYYY. Use the Date template to display the date correctly and automatically sort the song into a year category. Unlike the Vocaloid Wiki, the date the song was first uploaded online is the only date listed. For example, "Nekosogi-Matter-Bop" was first released on an album in 2014, then uploaded to YouTube and Niconico in 2015. "Monochro Asphalt" was first uploaded in 2012 and replaced with a remastered version in 2013. If a song is album-exclusive, then that album's release date can be used.

  • If you can't determine the upload date, the input to song box can be none.

View count[]

  • See the documentation at v. v is short for "views".

  • none can be used here too, in cases such as when a song has been deleted or has been made available in a way that does not record view count. See "." for an example of this.

Singers[]

vocaloid can be used in case VOCALOIDS are used in the song:

wikia can be used in case other voice synthesizers are used in the song:

Producers[]

Works similar to singers. If the producer has made more than one UTAU work, feel free to add square brackets around it, even if they don't have a producer page (red links are not a bad thing).

If many people are doing the same thing in a song, it's fine to put them on one line:

Anonymous people should have their names italicized:

Links[]

  • See the documentation at l. l is short for "link".
  • The order of the icons is largely up to you. (This allows for sensible positioning such as putting YouTube before Niconico Video for western producers.) The only requirement is that video websites come before audio websites. MP3 downloads go in the External Links section.

  • Comments such as reupload, privated deleted can be included.

  • Reprints go on a new line, separate from official uploads. Please make sure the author in question is not against reprint before adding them!

  • Reuploads can be included on the same line as the original upload if you like. See "Monochro Asphalt" for an example of this.

Background[]

The background lists information such as quotes about the song from the author, the genre of the song, the theme of the song, albums on which the song has appeared, and any additional information which is not present in the song box. Rose + Thorn and Nekosogi-Matter-Bop have the most decent background, but not all pages need or can have such a long background section. For a background to be considered finished enough to remove the wip background template, it should contain a quote or at least one sentence on something that is not in the songbox already.
The quote template works as follows:

.
.
.

Notes
notes

The notes section should be placed above the external links.

Preceding and succeeding versions[]

A section where official versions by the author can be posted. See hp for examples. See derivative for how the template works.

Lyrics[]

This page is still a work in progress.

Derivatives[]

A section for derivatives made by other authors. See hp for examples. See derivative for how the template works.

External Links[]

This section contains links to websites relevant to songs. Directly below the header should be links that are from the producer themselves (official MP3 files, blog posts, etc.). See links for information on the unofficial links. Any links not present in that template can be added below the links template. See an example below.

External Links
Categorization[]

Pages should only contain a few categories, a category for the language and a category/categories for the UTAU(s) that are featured in the song. Categories relating to the release date, the view count, and the translation are added automatically and should not be added manually by users!

In case the song is a parody or spin-off of an already existing song, the following category can be added:

DEFAULTSORT and sort[]

  • It is only needed if a song's title has special symbols or Asian text (see below). Adding to Breaking Point is redundant.

Special symbols[]

Sometimes a song title has special symbols. The wiki software does not convert these to normal letters when sorting, so "Bi☣hazard" would be found after biz instead of bin in a category, which is silly. tells the wiki software specifically to treat "Bi☣hazard" as if the page title was "Biohazard".

Japanese[]

  • Mimi no Aru Robot no Uta: →ja
    • The template removes spaces so something like ja is fine.

Chinese[]

Korean[]
